About Us

Jamie’s Run was established in 2010 to honor the memory of Jamie Lynne Knotts, the infant daughter of Kurt and Kelly Knotts, who died of a rare liver tumor, after receiving exceptional medical and family care at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. The mission of Jamie’s Run is to raise awareness of childhood cancer, assist in the search for a cure, and ease the financial and emotional burdens of local children and families dealing with pediatric cancers and blood disorders.

In 2010 Kurt and Kelly Knotts created Jamie’s Run as a way to celebrate Jamie’s life, while supporting the work being done by Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Since the event began, the Knotts have raised an amazing $100,000. The proceeds equally support the Cancer Clinical Trials Program, which helps to offer the latest advancements in treatment, and the Family Support Fund, because the last thing a parent needs to worry when their child is diagnosed with cancer is how to pay the bills. Last year alone, this donation supported the more than 125 clinical trials available for children diagnosed with cancer at Connecticut Children’s as one of the largest enrollment centers in the country. Additionally, countless families were assisted with basic needs such as heat, rent, food and clothing. And sadly, three children lost their battle with cancer and their families needed help with funeral expenses.
