About Us

The Veterans Equity Center (VEC) is a nonprofit organization located in the South of Market (SoMa), a neighborhood that has been impacted by rapid development and gentrification. VEC has been an anchor organization in the SoMa community for 15 years, originally established to respond to the needs of the Filipino WWII Veterans and their families. In 2009, VEC launched the Bill Sorro Housing Program (BiSHoP) which provides multi-lingual services including affirmative outreach, application assistance, legal information and referrals, housing education, bilingual support services (Tagalog) and housing case management. Today, BiSHoP has expanded VEC’s consumer base by serving extremely low/low income families and individuals, including immigrants, seniors, disabled, formerly incarcerated, veterans, LGBTQ residents and youth who reside or work in San Francisco.
