About Us

Animal Care Society (ACS) was founded in 1984 and is a 501c (3) non-profit no-kill adoption agency for dogs and cats. We are a privately funded, volunteer driven organization whose financial support comes solely through annual subscription memberships, donations, and adoption fees. We receive no federal, state, or local government funding. We accept animals for placement when owners can no longer keep them and help place rescued animals from individuals and shelters. Animals stay at the shelter until they have a home. Potential adoptive individuals or families apply for adoption and are screened through adoption interviews and reference checking. The work of ACS is done by its staff, board and a large network of caring volunteers. Volunteers help in a variety of functions to care for animals until a suitable home is found. Over the last ten years, ACS has placed over 8,000 pets into devoted and responsible homes. ACS speaks for the voiceless and leads by example. We provide responsible and humane treatment to our dog and cat population.
