About Us

Riley Orton Foundation (ROF) is a youth-led grassroots non-profit organization founded in 2010 as a youth development group called Akili Youth Group by youths from Obunga slum who after completing higher education returned to their community to create change from the inside having been raised in the slum and seeing women and children struggle to break the vicious cycle of poverty in the slum. In July 2013, it was approved as a full-fledged NGO in Kenya. The name of the foundation was inspired by an 8 year old boy from California, USA called Riley Orton who started organizing books and school supply drives with his school for children living in poverty in Africa at the age of only 5 years old. ROFruns Akili preparatory school for girls, Akili Library, health literacy program for kids, teacher training program for women, as well as computer training for children and youth in Obunga slum, Kisumu.
