  • About Us

The Alliance for Inclusion and Prevention, Inc. (AIP) has existed since 1995 to promote student achievement and healthy development in the Boston Public Schools. AIP strives to reduce the non-academic barriers to learning by means of high quality school-based special education and mental health services to at-risk children, their families, and schools in the least restrictive setting possible. AIP seeks to support school success through academic achievement, and the development of healthy behaviors and relationships. AIP provides social emotional learning and mental health services to students at-risk for not succeeding in school.

The overarching concept of this model is what is known as Full-Service Community Schooling in which a non-profit agency becomes a primary partner to help the host school address the non-academic barriers to student success. AIP's approach to full-service schooling involves both providing direct services to students, teachers, and families while also leveraging multiple other community partnerships and resources. Essential components of this model include programs that provide high quality afterschool services, family involvement, prevention and mental health services, professional development for teachers, and active community participation. AIP emphasizes school success as an important outcome measure for our programs. We view teachers along with students and families to be part of the ethical constituency we must serve and satisfy.
