Carter G Woodson Academy is a K-8 charter school in Minneapolis serving urban students across the Twin Cities Metro Area.
Carter G Woodson Academy (CGWA) exists is to ensure the academic and social development of students [from underserved families and communities], with an emphasis on cultural awareness, academic achievement, and responsible citizenship.
Our philosophy is based on the belief that each child is entitled to learn and develop in a positive, rich environment that promotes self- determination, self respect and respect for their heritage.
We believe that each child is capable of meeting high academic and social standards thus becoming knowledgeable, skilled, and confident citizens.
