Newark Urban Media Arts
At NJ/NUMA, our mission is to educate and empower youth and adults in Newark and other NJ urban communities with life skills, arts and education opportunities which promote both social and intellectual development. NJ/NUMA provides education and creative experience, inspiring community residents with both the will and the way to lead productive lives in the present and give back to our urban communities in the future.
NUMA offers clients a range of arts, educational and social service programs, in addition to one-on-one mentoring. Our goal of providing high-quality outreach programs is achieved by partnering with other non-profit agencies, local businesses and government resources. Through partnership, we expand our reach and more fully address our community’s needs.
2009 Vision Statement:
NUMA was born from Jonathan Rasheed Harris’ vision to provide community residents with the proper training and guidance necessary to make their way in the field of the arts. Jonathan Harris’ experience in the music industry has inspired NUMA’s unique music program, teaching basic skills in songwriting, recording, and music publishing. NUMA recognizes that a successful music career, like any creative work, is enhanced by a sound academic foundation. For this reason, the creative is balanced with the educational in all aspects of NUMA’s programming.
A NJ Nonprofit Corporation:
