Along with the complete listing of courses offered through this program, UW-Platteville allows students to further customize their area of emphasis through a variety of elective courses.
Criminal Justice Theory
This emphasis is designed for those who wish to position themselves for doctoral-level education or embark on a career in governmental research.
Criminal Justice Management
This is an effective path of study for those seeking promotion to supervisory or administrative positions in a variety of criminal justice settings.
Victim and Offender Services
This emphasis is a perfect fit for those interested in working with crime victims, juveniles, probation, and parole clients, or providing services in institutional or community-based settings.
UW-Platteville also offers a Child Advocacy Studies certificate is designed to prepare students for the realities of child protection, serving the needs of those interested in working directly with maltreated or at-risk children. The necessary courses are a perfect fit for those seeking to become or specialize as child protection professionals, victim witness workers, lawyers, school social workers, and treatment providers.
While the certificate is a separate credential, the 9 credit hours required to earn the certificate may be applied towards the master’s degree in criminal justice. Students can also choose to pursue a certificate in Child Advocacy Studies (CAST) while they earn the online Master of Science in Criminal Justice.
