Mission
The Alliance for Incarcerated Women (AIW) is an affiliate of Aleph Institute. The core mission of the Aleph Institute is to address the religious, educational, and spiritual needs of these populations, advocate for their civil and religious rights, and provide support to their families who are often left to manage alone nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting incarcerated women and their families through a comprehensive range of services systemic reformefforts.

About Us
Core Services and Programs
Legal Advocacy
- AIW connects incarcerated women with pro bono lawyers to uphold their rights and provide legal support in criminal and family law matters.
- The organization partners with a network of criminal defense and family law attorneys to address legal challenges unique to women in prison.
Medical Advocacy
- AIW collaborates with medical professionals to enhance the health and well-being of incarcerated women.
- Medical advocates offer guidance, emotional support, review of medical records, and act as intermediaries with prison staff to ensure proper healthcare and explain patient rights.
Family Reunification and Support
- Recognizing the central role women play in family stability, AIW provides services to help families stay connected.
- This includes coordinating and financing visits, facilitating communication (phone, video, letters), and supporting creative connections like arts, crafts, and photo albums.
- An emergency commissary fund helps provide essential hygiene items to maintain dignity and well-being.
Community and Systemic Advocacy
- AIW is committed to driving systemic change by centering the voices of formerly incarcerated women and advocating for policies that address the unique challenges women face in the criminal justice system.
- The organization encourages community engagement and the establishment of local chapters to expand its reach and impact
