About Us

NeighborWorks Southern Mass believes that affordable housing and stable neighborhoods help individuals and families realize their full dignity and potential. We are a partnership of residents, businesses and local governments.

Our mission is to help people have a safe and affordable place to live. We accomplish this by developing and managing affordable housing, educating and assisting first time homebuyers, and helping homeowners repair and maintain their homes.

NeighborWorks Southern Mass was founded in 1981 as a public-private partnership created to revitalize low- and moderate-income neighborhoods in the City of Quincy. Since that time, NWSOMA has expanded to provide services in more than 25 cities and towns across the South Shore. In addition to building and managing more than 170 units of affordable housing, NWSOMA now operates three Homeownership Centers in Quincy, Brockton, and New Bedford and offers a wide range of services, including first-time homebuyer education, foreclosure prevention counseling, and home rehabilitation loans and grants.
