  • About Us

The humanities ask in distinctive fashion fundamental questions of value, purpose, and meaning. The Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities (Mass Humanities) supports and conducts humanities programs designed to foster critical inquiry, promote understanding of both our varied cultural heritage and our common humanity, and provide occasions for the citizens of our state to engage in thoughtful public discourse about matters of individual choice and public responsibility. Mass Humanities, a private, nonprofit, educational organization, receives funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities; the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency; and from private sources.
