Sparking Innovations in Interprofessional Education and Practice

The University of Minnesota's Center for Interprofessional Health creates high quality interprofessional education (IPE) opportunities; sparks innovations in IPE and practice; collaborates across sectors to promote the health of our communities; and engages in research and dissemination to advance interprofessionalism in MN and beyond. The 1Health Interprofessional Education Curriculum provides interprofessional learning opportunities and experiences that allow learners to deepen their knowledge and develop the skills they need to effectively contribute to team-based, interprofessional collaboration as future health professions. The Community Teacher program connects students with volunteers called "Community Teachers" that serve as an integral part in this phase of the interprofessional education curriculum. Community Teachers provide students with a deeper understanding of the importance of interpersonal skill in combination with their program-specific knowledge. We are looking for Community Teacher volunteers to share with students their experiences as patients in navigating the heal-care system, managing chronic health conditions, and being an active participant in the coordination of their care.
