Volunteers of America The Theodora

There are almost no organizations in Seattle like The Theodora. We are unique in the people we serve, providing permanent housing and care for residents that other facilities will not accept. An overwhelming portion of our residents would not have anywhere else to live without The Theodora. They come to us after being in and out of shelters and rarely getting regular nutritious meals. For many, their possessions consist of what they carry on their backs. In addition to being low-income, nearly all our residents have disabling mental or physical health concerns. A large percentage of our residents are military veterans who have unique mental health needs that we address through our partnership with the VA. Currently about half of The Theodora's residents have served in the United States military during World War II, Korea, Vietnam or the Gulf War. The Theodora's mission is to serve individuals with limited resources by providing permanent housing, nutrition, health, and other services efficiently and effectively in a safe and supportive environment.
