HMI is the oldest and largest not-for-profit, multi-service agency dedicated to serving lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth, providing a broad range of vital programming including individual, group and family counseling; case management and support services for homeless and at-risk youth; job readiness, GED and college preparation; recreation including art, dance and digital photography; training on issues of sexuality, STIs and pregnancy prevention for youth and professionals; and youth leadership development programs.

HMI serves thousands of youth each year, ranging in age from 13 to 24, from the five boroughs of New York City and the surrounding metropolitan area. HMI has also recently implemented programming in Newark, NJ.
