About Us

the west oakland mural project

With Alena Museum as our fiscal sponsor The Werrst Oakland Mural Project was able to give birth to The Women of the Black Panther Party Mural, a 2000sqft public art masterpiece, installed on a private home in the heart of West Oakland, Ca. This historic dedication to the women of the BPP marks the first time in history that the work these women did to protect and better the lives of Black, poor and oppressed communities across the world is being recognized.

In addition to The Mural, the home is home to a brand new mini museum @ the mural. Installed in the first floor flat of the home, this museum and community space will contribute to the healing and joy of the community in the same way that the mural does.

This Project has been made possible by community and grant support and we need your continued help to make sure the museum and community center. stay a reality.
