About Us

Our name is Kinship. It is a word that originated as a combination of kin and relationship, and now indicates a sharing of characteristics or origins, usually relating to family ties or a blood relative. To us, Kinship is about a family of seniors who share a lust for life and an insatiable curiosity for the world around them.

At Kinship Senior Center (formerly known as the Uptown Shepherd's Center), we offer programming, activities, meals, and resources to seniors 60 years and older in Orleans Parish. Our consistent and varied programming makes us unique in New Orleans and is perfectly geared toward active seniors who wish to continue to learn new skills and build lasting social relationships.
