  • Mission

Our Mission To establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

    About Us

Best Buddies California has 38 middle school, high school and college chapters in 9 counties with over 1335 participants in the bay area. Our school chapters focus on creating one-to-one friendships by matching students with and without disabilities to participate in individual and group events. From our yearly Friendship Walk or our newly created Buddy Prom to our most recent Lady Gaga FLASH MOB, we engage our students throughout the year in activities that promote inclusion and friendship.

These matches ensure that students with intellectual disabilities have a friend who accepts them for who they are; they set an example for the rest of the students on acceptance and humanity; and, work to change the attitude of the entire campus toward individuals who are different than they are.

The only way we can support our current chapters and continue to grow is by engaging the entire community in our mission through increased publicity, media attention and events. Please help us create creative ways to connect with the community at large.
