About Us

SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve acquires and restores critical lands to permanently protect and steward dwindling wildlife habitat while engaging and educating all.

Our vision is that the vital wildlife habitat, lands, and waters surrounding Shadow Lake are protected, connected, and cared for in perpetuity by a multi-generational community of people who experience and value the wonders of nature.

We steward over 100 acres of habitat including a 8,000-year-old, peat-moss bog and mixed conifer forest.

SHADOW offers ongoing and one-time opportunities in environmental education and recreation for groups of all ages. In addition to education, SHADOW works with stewardship volunteers to build and maintain resilient ecosystems that provide viable habitat for local wildlife.

Through important relationships with community partners, SHADOW engages and educates nearly 3,000 people every year. Over 1,000 are students from local and regional schools, who visit SHADOW for field trips and stewardship projects.
