Spirit of the Plains, CASA, Inc.

  • Mission

The mission of Spirit of the Plains, CASA, Inc. is to advocate the best interests of abused and neglected children in the juvenile division of the Twenty-fifth Judicial District. This service includes the provision of trained volunteer advocates who gather information for the court and who speak for the child throughout the juvenile court process.

    About Us

CASA was started in 1977 in Seattle, Washington by Judge David Soukup. He had to make a decision to take a child out of her home and there was no one there who could only speak up for that child. He requested support from the community and received an overwhelming amount of support. Spirit of the Plains, CASA Inc. began in 1993 in Garden City, Kansas providing services to Finney, Greeley, Hamilton, Kearny, Scott, and Wichita counties. Today, most of the children served by Spirit of the Plains, CASA are in the court system due to abuse and neglect. Spirit of the Plains, CASA Serves six counties that comprise the 25th judicial district: Finney, Greeley, Kearny, Hamilton, Scott, and Wichita.

We recruit, train, and support volunteers who advocate for the best interest of children who are under the protection of the local court system.
