  • About Us

South of Market Health Center (SMHC) is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC); established in 1973, to provide affordable health care for poor and medically underserved residents living in the South of Market Area and immediate adjacent neighborhoods. SMHCs mission is to increase healthcare access for the poor and the uninsured, based on the highest available community standards and within a delivery system that is patient centered, provides a single-point of entry and is comprehensive in its approach to holistic and integrated patient care.

SMHC currently operates 4 clinic sites which offer comprehensive ambulatory medical and dental services to low income and other special population groups. We will be expanding our services to include integrated primary care/behavioral services at our recently renovated clinic site.
