  • About Us

Young Audiences of Massachusetts (YAMA) is the leading source for arts education programs in the Commonwealth. Since 1962, we have been the vital link between Massachusetts' best performing artists and the region's school children. Our mission is to educate, inspire, and empower youth through the arts. We believe that arts are an essential component of both formal education and youth development, and that all students, regardless of backgrounds, talents, and abilities, deserve access to the rich educational opportunities inherent to arts learning.

Our Expanded Arts Access Programming brings accessible and inspiring arts learning opportunities to young people who would otherwise not be reached, from students learning in hospitals; hospital schools, and homeless shelters; to students learning at schools that lack day-time arts instructors. YAMA staff works closely with site-partners to develop or adapt programming that meets the unique needs of each student population. Young Audiences of Massachusetts is affiliated with a national network of 32 Young Audiences' chapters, comprising the largest arts education network in the country. Every year, YA provides 200,000+ artist/student interactions in pre, during and after-school classroom settings.
