ASI Federal Credit Union

We are a community development financial-cooperative and our vision is to eliminate poverty in the Greater New Orleans area. As a cooperative/credit union we are owned by credit union members; we do not have private owners or shareholders.

We provide affordable loan products and services to our member-owners. Since 1961, ASI has provided over $1 billion in loans and assisted its members with loans for transportation, homeownership, education and business. ASI offers an array of loan products that includes stretch loans, credit cards, auto loans, mortgages and business loans of all sizes and types. In addition to creating financial opportunity for its 70,000 members, ASI promotes economic empowerment for all its members, with special emphasis on low-wealth and disadvantaged borrowers, financial education and community outreach services.

ASI is known nationally for its advocacy of the underserved and in particular for its low-cost alternatives to predatory payday lending. ASI’s nonprofit affiliate, A Shared Initiative, Inc. (ASII), supports the credit union by providing financial education and lending support services to non-traditional borrowers. For innovation and growth, ASI relies on the support of members who choose to bank with our cooperative because they are drawn to our Mission of “strengthening the financial health of underserved communities through financial services and education” and our Vision of “eliminating poverty in all the communities we serve”.
