At Bobbies Street Cats, our mission is to spay our way to a more humane LA by empowering Angelenos with the tools, resources, and support they need to combat the cat overpopulation crisis in their own neighborhoods.

    About Us

At Bobbie’s Street Cats, we believe that the key to meaningful, sustainable change in community cat populations lies in trust, consistency, and hyper-local focus. As a 501(c)(3) dedicated to targeted, regionally based spay and neuter work, we concentrate our efforts within just one and a half zip codes in South Central Los Angeles. Since December 2023, we have fixed 2,126 cats, with 94% of those cats coming from 90011 and the city portion of 90058. By committing to such a small footprint, we are able to build deep, lasting relationships with community members—many of whom become active participants in our mission to reduce suffering and overpopulation among street cats.

What sets us apart is our full-circle, community-integrated approach to spay/neuter. Our team of trappers live in the neighborhoods we serve. They understand the unique rhythms and challenges of their streets and are able to respond rapidly to calls for help—because they’re already there. This grassroots model allows us to provide hyper-responsive care, identify and track emerging cat colonies, and use firsthand data to predict areas of growth, such as homeless encampments and parks, before they become unmanageable.

But we don’t just fix cats—we help people too. Much of cat overpopulation starts inside homes. We identify residents with unfixed cats—sometimes unknowingly breeding multiple litters—and offer free, judgment-free support. We provide transportation, loan carriers, schedule appointments, and meet people where they are. Many of the “free” spay/neuter services available to low-income communities come with hidden costs: lost wages, lack of transportation, long wait times. By removing those barriers, we empower people to make the most humane and responsible decisions for their animals. By building trust with residents, listening to their concerns, and collaborating on solutions, we foster neighborhood ownership over the welfare of local cats. Every interaction is an opportunity to educate, connect, and create buy-in for long-term animal welfare.

At Bobbie’s Street Cats, our mission goes far beyond sterilization. It’s about transformation—of streets, homes, and hearts. It’s about preventing suffering before it starts. And it’s about recognizing that to truly help cats, we must also help the people who care for them. One colony. One household. One relationship at a time.
