Flaming for Jesus (FFJ) is a non-denomination, non-religious nonprofit organization nurturing the spiritual and mental well-being of LGBTQIA+ individuals impacted by religious trauma and discrimination. Through our core program, the Rise Above Community, we create safe affirming spaces that respect the intersecting identities and experiences within the LGBTQIA+ community.
Serving the LGBTQIA+ community exclusively, we operate explicitly in a non-religious and non-denominational way, dedicated to creating safe spaces for healing, connection, and authenticity. Our mission is to support LGBTQIA+ individuals on their unique journeys by providing them with a community where they can find strength, belonging, and empowerment without the rigid doctrines or harmful dogma often found in traditional religious spaces. FFJ's work is driven by the belief that faith and spirituality are personal and should be explored authentically, free from the constraints of religious trauma and discrimination.
The Rise Above Community (RAC) is the primary program and heartbeat of Flaming for Jesus. Dedicated to providing safe and affirming spaces for queer individuals impacted by Adverse Religious or Spiritual Experiences (ARSE), religious trauma, and discrimination. our community built on the principles of C.A.R.E. (Creating safe spaces, Affirming identities, Respecting experiences, and Embracing authenticity), ensuring everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
