About Us

Established in 1998, the Montclair Community Pre-K is a nationally recognized not-for-profit early childhood education program for up to 224 three and four year-olds, founded on the mission of providing the children of the Montclair community a high quality education regardless of a family’s ability to pay tuition. Four guiding principles -- Educational Excellence, Dedication to Diversity, Community Engagement, and Supporting Families – characterize the MCPK curriculum, school culture and staff commitment, making the MCPK one of the premier early childhood education programs in New Jersey. Supported in part by the Township of Montclair, individual and corporate donations to our Scholarship Program, and foundation grants, the MCPK represents a unique public/private partnership dedicated to preparing all children for success in kindergarten and in life. Guided by a Board of Trustees whose members reflect the community of Montclair, we attract a diverse student population that mirrors the multicultural and socioeconomic character of Montclair. Since its founding, the MCPK has educated over 3,000 students, and on average, annually 25-30% of all Montclair students attend the MCPK in preparation for kindergarten.
