Independence School Local 1

  • About Us

Independence is an innovative charter school that is designed to connect the high school experience to the community and to life experiences. Students work in a non-traditional educational environment while working to complete an educational program that is designed to demonstrate the connections between career opportunities and education. The students use internships as part of their educational experience. However, Independence is not a jobs program, but a college preparatory program with high academic standards and important life skills development. This is a program that hopes to be a model for other innovative programs in the education of Baltimore’s children.
