About Us
Academia Hispanomaya is a small, non-profit school of Spanish and the Mayan language, Mam, located in the mountain valley of Todos Santos in Guatemala.
Hispanomaya provides a valuable boost to the local economy by providing income to local teachers who work at the school and Mayan families who host the school's students, and by awarding scholarships to local schoolchildren.
Hispanomaya is also involved in placing volunteers in local projects. Projects include assisting in local classrooms, which are highly understaffed, with one teacher often teaching up to three grades in the same classroom. Possibilities also exist to assist in local clinics, and in agriculture.
