Over the past two decades, obesity in the United States has increased dramatically and rates continue to rise. More than one-third of U.S. adults (35.7%) and approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2-19 years are obese. While there are numerous factors that contribute to these statistics, the bottom line is simple: WE JUST DON'T MOVE ENOUGH.
According to the CDC, the number of Americans considered obese will reach 42% by 2030. That's almost half the country.
In addition, it's no secret that obesity can lead to heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and cancer.
So what does all this mean?
Simply, if there's not an immediate change of course, we will be the fattest, sickest and most unproductive nation in the world.
