About Us

A growing body of research and evidence makes clear that children’s racial sensibilities begin to form in infancy, that most kids develop racial and other biases by kindergarten, and that those biases become pretty entrenched by the teen years. The preschool and elementary school years thus represent the best opportunity for shaping kids' ideas and attitudes about race. EmbraceRace helps fill that gap.

EmbraceRace works with parents, early childhood educators, and other caring adults working to raise children who are thoughtful, informed, and brave about race in the United States. Our efforts are mainly intended for adults in the lives of children from birth through early adolescence.
