IDEAS: Institute for Development, Evaluation, Assistance and Solutions
The IDEAS mission is to help strengthen development and institutions by providing the training and technical assistance they need to serve their poor clients better. IDEAS is a 40 year old non-profit that has worked on 4 continents. We have had an office in Nicaragua for 3 decades.
For 30 years we have been creating programs and short intensive graduate programs in universities on 3 continents. We have a formal Agreement with the Universidad Centroamericana, the Jesuit university in El Salvador to expand its relations with North American universities. We are working with US universities who would like to expand their relations with Central America, especially with the Masters of Community Development in the Jesuit universities in El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatemala.
In 2010, we began a social enterprise working in solar and other appropriate technologies in Nicaragua. We have two sets of microfranchisees: women selling solar powered products and youth installing solar rooftop systems and solar pumping systems. www.tecap.info. TecAp has an organizational profile on Idealist at http://www.idealist.org/view/nonprofit/HPzpmzsZcMfP/
We also have a project to introduce to Latin America the enterprise development methodology of microfranchising, which has been very successful in Asia and Africa. We currently are working in Nicaragua to develop professional education and awareness. We have taught a graduate school course at Tulane University in microfranchises for 6 years.
Other services in Spanish and English include: Evaluation of all types; Social performance management; Full-scale impact assessment; Impact monitoring; Institutional evaluation; strategic planning; consulting; microfinance; women's economic development; etc. See www.ideasnet.org for more services.
