The Nathan B. and Florence R. Burt Foundation (dba The Burt Foundation) is a non-profit corporation incorporated on December 13, 1984, operating as a private foundation as defined in Section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), and is qualified as a tax-exempt organization pursuant to IRC Section 501(c)(3). The Foundation is endowed and does not seek contributions from others, but dispenses grants outright to tax-exempt charitable and educational organizations.
The Burt Foundation has one grant cycle per year. We have a multi-step process: submit a Letter of Interest, once reviewed by the Grants Committee, organizations are contacted about whether or not they are invited to submit a full grant application. We use the Colorado Common Grant Application, with minor adjustments based on the Foundation's needs. The Grants Committee reviews all Letters of Interest and Grant Applications. Organizations must be located in Colorado and have under $2 million in annual revenue in order to be eligible for funding from the Burt Foundation.
