MissionStatement:

In the Pink Cancer Early Detection and Education Program is a program at the Saint Michael’s Medical Center, Newark , New Jersey. It was established in 1999 with funds from the Susan G. Komen For the Cure, North Jersey Affiliate. The program is a lead agency for the Department of Health and Senior Services New Jersey Cancer Early Detection and Education Program(NJCEED). Our mission is to eradicate cancer as a life threatening disease in our community (EssexCounty); to foster the values of love, compassion, justice and reverence for life and to support services which improve or maintain quality of life for all. The primary objective of the Program is to also increase the proportion of age-appropriate men and women who are screened for breast, cervical, colorectal and prostate cancer by:

• Providing education, outreach, free or low cost screenings and treatment to men and women that qualify through the Program.

• Providing free screenings and follow-up services to uninsured and underinsured men and women.

• Reaching out to engage high risk men and women for screening services etc
