  • Mission

The mission of the Edith and Carl Marks Jewish Community House of Bensonhurst, known as the JCH, is to be a center for community life in Brooklyn that is rooted in Jewish values and fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment. We make an impact on community members at every life stage by providing critical services that lift people out of poverty and innovative programs that educate and inspire.

    About Us

The Edith and Carl Marks Jewish Community House of Bensonhurst (Marks JCH) is more than a community center. It is a destination for joyful Jewish life, with programs that educate and inspire and services that lift people out of poverty and put them on the road to self-sufficiency and good citizenship. Since the 1980s, the Marks JCH has played a key role in resettling the more than 50,000 immigrants from the former Soviet Union and around the globe. Through job training and placement, English classes, children and youth programs, senior services, and other educational, cultural, and social service supports, the Marks JCH has been a vital lifeline for these immigrants. From preschool children to high school teens, from working age adults to elderly Holocaust survivors, from first time mothers to young families who are returning to the neighborhoods that sheltered their parents when they arrived as refugees... The Marks JCH touches the lives of more than 20,000 clients of all ages and stages of life each year.
