About Us

Historical Perspective The Mental Health Association, Inc. (MHA) has a long history of providing quality residential services that reflect the needs of the service recipients while enhancing the image of the people served through education and the promotion of dignity and respect. Our future endeavors will be based on the belief that individuals with disabilities deserve quality affordable housing, the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential and the chance for community membership.

Incorporated in 1960 by a group of caring and concerned citizens, the agency originally provided advocacy for individuals hospitalized at the Northampton State Hospital. During the late 1970’s the transition to community treatment and living from the large institutions was begun. It has been since that time that MHA has continued to create an extensive array of housing and support options.
