  • About Us

Crooked Trails is a non-profit, community-based travel organization helping people broaden their understanding of the planet and its diverse cultures through education, community development and responsible travel.

We work in conjunction with indigenous people around the world facilitating cultural exchanges that allow visitors and hosts opportunities to share in each other's lives.

During our exchanges, we enter our host's community with openness and respect and with a willingness to ask questions, to listen and to offer friendship. By listening to their stories and partaking in their daily lives and activities we honor their knowledge of place, and of a life well lived.

We join in daily activities of work and play such as the design and construction of community centers and water and sewage systems, participating in Buddhist seminars, working in the fields during harvest or planting season, fishing and teaching in village schools. Evenings are set aside for meetings with local elders, fireside chats, music, dance, crafts and language lessons.
