Sowing Seeds, Ltd.
Sowing Seeds is a nonprofit network of people who offer support and services, at no cost, to Marshfield, Massachusetts residents in need. An all-volunteer, ecumenical outreach ministry, Sowing Seeds has answered a wide variety of calls for guidance, support and advocacy since its Fall 1993 inception.
Sowing Seeds provides services using its volunteers' many personal and professional talents; it also networks with other organizations to address significant needs of the people it serves. Many tangible needs are met by the Sowing Seeds Clothing Bank, which last year provided essential in-season goods and clothing to more than 1,100 people from babies to the elderly. The Transportation Volunteers provide rides to doctors, hospitals, counseling services and other vital destinations. The Furniture Coordinator helps to redistribute hundreds of essential pieces: beds, tables, sofas, dressers and baby equipment, to neighbors who would otherwise go without.
The most important asset of Sowing Seeds is its over 100 volunteers and scores of generous supporters. At the core is a 23-member Intake Committee, which has responded to more than 6,500 calls, guiding Marshfield residents to the necessary resources for help with food, shelter, utilities and other needed support services. More than 70% of those calls received involve children; one hundred percent of them are honored with dignity, confidentiality and respect.
