West Parish of Barnstable Congregational Church, UCC
The avowed purpose of this Church shall be to worship God, to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to celebrate the Sacraments; to realize Christian fellowship and unity within this Church and the Church Universal; to render loving service toward humankind; and to strive for righteousness, justice, and peace.
This is the oldest Congregationalist church in the United States founded in London in 1616 by Rev. Henry Jacob, and moved to the Plymouth Colony in 1634, and finaly establishing the Town of Barnstable, MA in 1639. It continues to meet in the ancient and historic Meetinghouse, built in 1717, and restored in the 1950's.
