AYS, a non-profit, grassroots agency, operates before- and after-school for school age children, kindergarten wrap-around, early childhood, and summer programs in five Central Indiana counties.
In addition to a safe place for students in the out-of-school hours, AYS programs offer homework time, enrichment activities, and physical fitness. Programs offer curriculum that supports the Indiana State Academic Standards.
Mission AYS enriches the learning and well-being of children in a safe, caring and fun environment outside of the school day.
Vision AYS will become the program of choice for families and schools in central Indiana. The welfare of the children we serve, their families and the community will be supported through our excellent youth programs and the strong leadership of the AYS organization.
Values Statement AYS values respect, responsibility and commitment in all our relationships with children, families, staff, schools, religious institutions and the community. We live up to these values by:
Focusing on children and families: We make decisions that are in the best interests of the children and families we serve. We focus on the positive development of the children we serve. We focus on serving families from all social and economic backgrounds. We provide a fun learning environment for the children we serve. We are dedicated to providing a family-friendly environment for our employees.
Providing excellent programs: We provide programs and activities that families highly value. We hire employees who love to work with all children. We uphold the highest standards of our profession. We seek national accreditation for our programs.
Developing individual potential: We create curriculum that enriches children’s social and educational development. We provide all staff with continuous learning opportunities so that they can grow personally and professionally. We encourage staff to seek credentialing. We provide the broader community of youth workers with opportunities for professional development and growth as well.
Building and nurturing positive relationships: We maintain a strong network of relationships with parents, schools and the broader community. We see our work as benefiting not only individual children and families but also the broader community through service projects, cultural celebrations and collaborative training.
