About Us

The Washington Heights & Inwood (WHIN) Music Project is an El Sistema-inspired initiative in partnership with Our Saviour's Atonement (OSA) Lutheran Church and the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance (NoMAA) that kicked off in August 20, 2012 with a 2-week intensive orchestral and choral summer camp.

Currently we serve more than 150 children weekly through our classes which include choir, pre-orchestra, early childhood, strings, in-school residency and the WHIN Youth Orchestra. This allows us to develop our vision to create a pipeline of support through orchestral and choral practice very similar to the El Sistema model.

Furthermore, our goal is to create an "ecosystem of orchestral practice" in the community to help improve the conditions of all children and youth, especially of those who usually don't have access to these opportunities.

If this sounds like music to your ears, do not waste more time: contact us and help us develop a better community through music!
