About Us

For over 40 years, Brooklyn Child and Family Services, Inc., has been serving Brooklyn’s underserved children and families.

As a non-profit, community-based organization, our mission is to empower, educate and inspire kids and families to achieve self-sufficiency and build an environment that’s conducive to healthy development.

Programs Every day of the year, BCAFS staff and volunteers serve over 500 kids and families through three core programs, run in three separate centers in Fort Greene and Bedford Stuyvesant:

Child Development and Education Our child development, early care and education center is located on Rockwell Place in Fort Greene. Over 200 children from primarily low-income families receive child care and educational services from our Early Head Start, Head Start and Universal Pre-K programs. We also provide a range of classes and services for youth and adults.

Transitional Housing The Rose F. Kennedy Family Center in Bedford Stuyvesant provides transitional residence for homeless, pregnant and parenting young women and their children, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Affordable Housing The Rosa Parks Apartments in Bedford Stuyvesant offers affordable permanent housing for vulnerable families. Paired with supportive services these facilities provide a necessary bridge between transitional housing and independent living.
