Position: Community Coalition Coordinator (“Community Champion”)

Hours: PART-TIME 20 hours per week - Flexible schedule. Will include occasional evening and, less often, weekend hours.

Pay: $30,500 / year

Nederland Communities That Care Coalition (NCTCC) is a coalition of youth, local officials, school staff, and individual community members working to improve the overall health and well-being of youth in the Nederland and Peak to Peak Region by bringing stakeholders together to increase healthy opportunities for young people. The Coalition Coordinator or “Community Champion'' is a part-time position that reports to and supports the work of the Community Mobilizer and the NCTCC Community Board. This position will accrue paid time off. 

Role:

This position supports the Community Mobilizer and the Nederland Communities That Care Coalition in matters to include internal organization, capacity and skill building, process facilitation, organization-building through community outreach and recruiting. Activities related to these roles include:

• Engage and educate parents and other community members with the goal of growing the number of people involved in and supporting the Coalition and supervising a part-time outreach assistant to be hired in the summer of 2021
• Supporting relationships, communication and accountability within the coalition
• Supporting the Mobilizer, workgroups, and committees in scheduling and planning meetings and meeting agendas.
• Supporting community-driven facilitation of the Coalition workgroups
• Co-leading Coalition meetings and strategic planning processes
• Addressing opportunities to build the skills of coalition members by providing training to them directly (eg meeting facilitation) or identifying workshops and other resources outside of the coalition
• Collaborating with the Mobilizer on grant reporting, deliverables, and other materials
• Collecting and communicating feedback from coalition supporters and active members, identifying successful approaches and opportunities for improvement, and making relevant recommendations to the Mobilzer and Coalition board

Minimum Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Nederland and its surrounding communities, especially related to our community’s schools and youth.
• At least 2 years experience, professionally or as a volunteer, that includes general administrative functions such as the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) and Google Docs
• Comfort speaking with community members and the general public
• Ability to work 20 hours per week, on occasion requiring evening or weekend meeting attendance
• Strong written communication skills
• Ability to communicate with empathy and sensitivity with stakeholders
• Genuinely motivated to improve the wellbeing of young people in Nederland and the surrounding community

Preferred Qualifications:

• A track record of engagement in your community, whether professionally or as a volunteer, with parents and other community members
• Experience facilitating meetings
• Experience in non-profits, community engagement, or sales
• Experience creating or contributing to planning and reporting documents
• Experience working within a budget and tracking expenses
• Familiarity with social media platforms
