Blair in Kenya is dedicated to improving the lives of Kenya's rural poor through educational, medical, and economic opportunity.
What we do:
We run two primary schools in rural Kenya, we sponsor over 100 needy students for their educational needs (including a daily lunch), we conduct an annual medical clinic with American Doctors, and we operate a micro-finance lender.
Blair in Kenya started as a service trip for High School students and has since expanded it's mission. We seek, in a variety of ways, to bring hope to the hopeless, and to provide some opportunity where none existed. We have no employees, pay no salaries, and all overhead is covered through separate donations. Therefore, 100% of the money we raise goes directly to helping these children.
We are raising money to build a Medical Clinic as part of each school -- as with our schools, the land is donated to us by the community and we then partner to build the clinic. We also need to expand the schools -- to add athletic facilities (soccer fields, volleyball courts, basketball), a computer center, and a dining hall. Finally, we are working to expand our small business development and micro-credit program.
