Core ProjectThe Core Project has treated over 60,000 patients for free, including medicine, since the clinic building opened its doors in 1996. Its focus is on the very high maternal and child mortality/morbidity rates of this region. It supports two local ethnic Tibetan doctors, Phuntsok Dongdrup and Sonam Drogha.
Pilot ProjectBecause impoverished nomadic Tibetans are the crucible for projects that seek to promote health and eliminate poverty the Core Projectis a model for all of rural China. In cooperation with the Government, and several hospitals, SF is currently expanding its mission to address the lack of access to basic services among residents of rural, Western China and the lack of capacity of the local medical providers. This will be accomplished by an IT network-centric project that will link all remote medical providers.
