  • Mission

To be a global network which connects and supports local leaders who are working to improve the health and wellbeing of their own communities

    About Us

Founded in 2004 by Dr. Ted Lankester, Arukah Network was born from an idea that took shape while Ted was working in the Himalayas. He observed many small organizations working passionately but often in isolation, competing rather than collaborating. This inspired him to find a solution-one that would maximize their effectiveness through partnership.

Our solution is Clusters -teams of local people with diverse skills and backgrounds who collaborate to improve health and well-being. Clusters build local relationships, mobilize strengths and resources, develop support networks, run training, and host events . Our wider network connects them with others, shares knowledge, and provides support.

The first Cluster began 15 years ago in Uttarakhand, India. Today, Arukah has 13 Clusters across seven countries in Africa and India which have achieved great things including: improving maternal health, water access, disability inclusion, reducing sexual violence, and providing humanitarian aid and more
