Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, the Sierra Club is now the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization.
Our mission is to:
- explore, enjoy and protect the planet,
- practice and promote the responsible use of our earth's ecosystems and resources,
- inform and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment,
- maintain a focus on social justice and equity to ensure that everyone has access to nature, clean water, air, and soil, and a safe environment.
The Atlantic Chapter carries out this mission across New York State.
