    Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, the Sierra Club is now the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization.

    Our mission is to:

    • explore, enjoy and protect the planet,
    • practice and promote the responsible use of our earth's ecosystems and resources,
    • inform and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment,
    • maintain a focus on social justice and equity to ensure that everyone has access to nature, clean water, air, and soil, and a safe environment.

    The Atlantic Chapter carries out this mission across New York State.
