Connecticut NAACP

About Us

Nationally, the NAACP is dedicated to advancing the equity and wellbeing of Black and brown communities through voter mobilization, advocacy, and litigation.  CT NAACP carries out the mission of the national organization on a local scale, executing programs that bolster Black businesses in the state, engage youth and young adults in advocacy, and provide other essential services in Black and brown communities.

In August 2020, CT NAACP launched the One Million Jobs Campaign (OMJC) in New Haven. OMJC is modeled after the successful Johns Hopkins University & Health System's re-entry employment initiative, which has helped 23,000 employees enter its workforce since 2004. To improve the economic status of justice-involved community members, OMJC secures employer commitments to hire qualified, justice-impacted participants; executes a community-based marketing campaign to reach potential participants; and refers program applicants in need of job-readiness support to workforce partners.
