Civic Spirit

Civic Spirit educates, inspires, and empowers schools across faith traditions to enhance civic belonging, knowledge, and responsibility in their student and faculty communities. 

For educators, we provide enriching and academically rigorous professional development, pedagogical coaching, and discourse training and opportunities for students to gain the information, skills, and sensibility to become beholden participants in the civic life of their community and the political life of our democracy.

Over the past four years, Civic Spirit, a non-partisan organization, has developed a proven and innovative approach to the teaching of civic education, applicable in all demographic and educational settings, with a particular focus on faith-based middle schools and high schools. To date, we have partnered with over 40 faith-based schools initially in the Northeast and increasingly in cities and towns throughout the United States. Civic Spirit offers professional development and personalized coaching to teachers and school administrators. Students are engaged through classroom learning as well as through co-curricular and inter-school activities.

Civic Spirit is moving into a phase of significant growth and expansion to new schools and communities and is building its team to scale a multi-faceted methodology that effectively fosters civic belonging, knowledge, skills, and agency in the next generation.
