About Us

It is well-known that a large percentage of teachers in the U.S. believe student poverty is the #1 barrier to effective learning in the classroom. Just imagine wanting to go to school, but not having shoes to wear or just having spent the night in a trailer without heat. Imagine wanting to learn but being too hungry, sick, or tired to focus. This is the reality for so many of the students that we work with whose basic needs are not being met, which affects their health, well-being, and academic performance.

CISP works with students to help them get past their crisis and address their barriers to learning by making a front-end investment harnessing the available resources in our community, and matching targeted services to each student’s individual needs.
