Family Promise of Berks County
Our Vision: A community in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future together.
Our Mission: To help homeless families and youth achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.
Family Promise of Berks County is an incorporated 501(c)(3) nonprofit and affiliate of Family Promise National. FPBC received its incorporation and nonprofit status in July of 2006.
Family Promise of Berks is part of a proven and successful nationwide program that, for over 20 years, has effectively addressed the crisis of family homelessness in communities across the country.
We partner with local communities, providers, interfaith congregations and networks of volunteers to provide supportive services to homeless families and youth throughout Berks County.
A Board of Trustees provides oversight and leadership to the organization.
Family Promise initially began with the Hospitality Network Program, with a unique model that recognizes that maintaining family units increases successful outcomes. The latter allows for couples and single parent households to remain with their children while being sheltered versus being separated by gender.
FPBC has since grown to offer three programs individually tailored to address the needs of homeless families, youth and at-risk communities. Current programs focus on community building, hospitality, case management, rapid rehousing, homelessness prevention, mediation, advocacy and sustainable solutions to stable independence.
