Mission
Radius Books is a nonprofit publishing company based in Santa Fe, NM. It is our firm belief that the arts—all arts—are vital to our nation and our culture’s future. Through our publication, education, and donation programs, Radius Books creates and promotes an ongoing dialogue among writers, thinkers, and artists. Since its inception in 2007, our Donation Program has donated over 100,000 thoughtfully crafted art books to libraries, schools, and art programs across the US.
About Us
ABOUT RADIUS BOOKS
Through our publication, education, and donation programs, Radius Books encourages, promotes, and publishes books of artistic and cultural value for a wide audience. The books we publish amplify diverse artists' voices and make their work accessible to as many people as possible. We publish between 15-20 titles per year by artists of all ranks.
When Radius Books was founded in 2007, public libraries across the country were rapidly losing funding for art books, so our founders laid the groundwork for a nonprofit publishing company that would help to fill this need. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are able to secure independent funding for each book project while also guaranteeing that copies from every print run are distributed to under-resourced libraries and arts organizations across the US.
ABOUT OUR DONATION PROGRAM
Radius Books donates 350 copies of every book we publish to libraries, schools, arts organizations, and community centers in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
The Donation Program was conceived and initiated as a means to bring diverse artistic visions and voices into the hands of as many people as possible, particularly students and historically underrepresented communities. It is our hope and expectation that these donations will reach and inspire new audiences.
Our donation sites encompass a broad range of institutions across the United States. Since the program’s inception, we have provided free books to hundreds of organizations, including prison libraries, community art centers, tribal libraries, K-12 classrooms, and under-resourced university and public libraries. We value the librarians and educators who steward these donations as our close collaborators in expanding access to arts education.
